Guest Overview
Sarah Kennedy is a 32-year-old single mom, Functional Medicine Consultant, writer, and podcaster based in Nashville, Tennessee. For nearly a decade, she has been navigating the ups and downs of motherhood while rebuilding her life on her own terms.
Sarah’s journey began in a hyper-conservative religious community (some might say cult), where she was raised to believe that her sole purpose was to be a perfect wife and mother. Married at 20 and a mom of two by 22, she spent years trying to fit into a role that never truly felt like her own. After facing the painful reality of divorce, she had to start over—emotionally, financially, and personally—while raising her two daughters.
Now, Sarah is passionate about breaking generational cycles, redefining motherhood, and encouraging other women to trust their own paths. She speaks openly about the stigma of single motherhood, the challenges of co-parenting, and her journey to sobriety and self-discovery. Through it all, she’s learned that motherhood isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up, learning, and evolving every step of the way.
When she’s not working in Functional Medicine or creating content, Sarah is busy traveling the world with her daughters, launching creative projects, and embracing life’s many "side quests."

What do you wish you knew before having kids?Â
That motherhood doesn’t have to mean losing yourself. I wish I had known that I could be both a devoted mom and my own person—that I could chase my passions and dreams while raising my daughters.
What advice do you give your expectant friends?Â
Your kids are not little extensions of you. They are their own people with their own personalities, emotions, and dreams. Your job isn’t to mold them into a certain image—it’s to guide them, love them, and let them be who they are meant to be.
What has been the most impactful part of your journey in parenthood?Â
Learning to trust myself. As a young mom, I spent years doubting my instincts and trying to be what everyone else told me I should be. Now, I parent in a way that feels right for me and my daughters—and that has been incredibly freeing.
What has brought you unexpected joy throughout this experience?Â
Motherhood has helped me heal my own inner child. By giving my daughters the love, patience, and understanding I needed growing up, I’ve also been able to reparent myself in the process.
What is a sentence that sums up the most impactful part of your journey?Â
I broke free from the life I was told to live—and built something even better.
