About

Emily Naegle, a 28-year-old wife and mother and former CPA at a Big 4 accounting firm. After being diagnosed with heart failure (peripartum cardiomyopathy or PPCM), she left her career as an auditor to focus all efforts on regaining her health and being a stay-at-home parent to their beautiful miracle daughter, Nellie (age 2).

Our conversation with Emi

Emi shared her experience with peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) and the challenges she faced during pregnancy and postpartum. She discusses the compounding symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and the importance of being an advocate for oneself in the healthcare system. Emily also reflects on the impact of PPCM on her motherhood journey and the need for awareness and education about this condition.

Our conversation covered topics such as personal introductions, her infertility journey, pregnancy & postpartum complications, and the challenges of motherhood.

Emil shared her experience with infertility, pregnancy, and the unexpected complications she faced. The discussion also delves into the impact of these experiences on her life and family.

In her own words

We live in Salt Lake City, surrounded by family, friends, and the majestic Utah mountains. While it is impossible to live in the land of Diet Coke and cookies without a slight addiction, I also enjoy exercising in all forms and cooking healthy meals and yummy treats for those I love.

To wind down, I love reading cookbooks, chatting with my mom and three sisters, watching reality television, and participating in some online retail therapy occasionally.

What you would tell your best friend before they have kids?

The biggest lesson I have learned in my journey to and through parenthood is that rarely does life go according to plan. However, that does not mean it is bad to plan and it actually can be quite helpful (life saving in some cases). But allowing ourselves to find moments of beauty anyway, despite the unexpected, is where we will find peace and lasting joy in both parenthood and life.

I have also been greatly impacted by the importance of gracefully advocating for yourself, with boldness and without shame.
